We strive to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the facilities,
surroundings and ambience of the park. Our aim is to offer a warm welcome
and to help in any way we can when you are planning your visit and during
your stay with us |
| Pre arrival |
 |
Somers Wood Caravan Park caters for caravans, motorhomes and has some
pitches suitable for the larger American RV style of motorhome. |
 |
Our website has full details of park facilities, local attractions and
a booking form. |
 |
A clearly worded leaflet is available and can be posted to you on request,
along with a copy of this Access Statement if requested. |
 |
We can be contacted by e-mail, fax or telephone. |
 |
Staff are happy to advise on the location and suitability of our pitches
to meet your needs. Specific pitches or areas can be requested when booking
and we will do our very best to meet those requests. We take a deposit to
secure your reservation which in the event of cancellation is non-refundable. |
| Arrival and Car Parking Facilities |
 |
The park is accessed via a security gate which will open automatically
between 10.00am and 7.00pm. Outside of these hours visitors can contact
the warden on duty by using the telephone number on the sign close to the
gate. |
 |
There is a parking area alongside the Reception Office. |
 |
A ramp with only a slight slope leads to the Reception door which opens
to a width of 70cm (27.5") and a second door can be opened to give a width
of 142cm (56") |
 |
The Reception counter is 110cm (43") high with an access door for staff
to assist guests as required. There is room within the Reception area for
a wheel chair to manoeuvre and turn. |
| The park itelf |
 |
The park is virtually flat throughout and the circular road through the
park is made of compacted stone chippings. |
 |
All 48 pitches are hardstanding made up of stone chippings with a firm
base which still enables pegs to be hammered in without difficulty. There
is space for an awning on all pitches, either on hardstanding or grass. |
 |
Vehicles can be parked on your pitch in front of your caravan/motorhome. |
 |
Our team of wardens will assist in setting up your caravan or motorhome
on request. |
 |
All pitches have a 10 amp electric hook up. |
| The shower/toilet block, water points, dishwashing and chemical
disposal. |
 |
We have a fully fitted out separate disabled facility complete with shower, toilet etc. |
 |
The park has a centrally located toilet and shower block, accessed via
a short and gently sloping concrete ramp. At the entrance to the ladies'
and gents' facilities there is a step measuring 8cm (3") and a door 79cm
(31") wide. |
 |
All toilets and showers have level entry with a small ledge of 12cm (5")
to step into the actual shower area. |
 |
Toilet doors open to a maximum of 55cm (22"). |
 |
2 private wash cubicles with sinks only. |
 |
2 sinks, 1 hand dryer and 1 hairdryer in the communal area. |
 |
The park has four water points strategically placed around the park plus
an additional tap with a reel hose attached for refilling water tanks on
motorhomes. |
 |
Dishwashing facilities situated at the rear of the toilet / shower
block and can be accessed via a short concrete ramp. |
 |
We have a chemical disposal point but no drive-over dump for American
RVs. |
| Around The Park |
 |
A centrally located cabin offers information on local places of interest,
places to eat, public amenities in the area and directions to supermarkets
and caravan accessory shops. |
 |
There is a seating area next to the cabin and many bird feeders around
the park attracting a wide variety of feathered friends. |
 |
A footpath leads to the adjoining golf club and fisheries and the club
bar is open to non-members. |
 |
On the opposite side of the park another short footpath leads onto a service
road which is a safer place to walk dogs as well as a more tranquil route
to the nearby village of Meriden. |
 |
Both these short footpaths are made up of bark chippings. The golf club,
fisheries and the dog walk can also be reached via the main gate and the
tarmac roads beyond the gate. |
| Additional Information |
 |
Mobile telephone coverage is mostly good and there is a payphone in Reception. |
 |
Wifi is installed and coverage is available throughout the park. To use
the internet, a card can be purchased from Reception, with prices varying
according to the length of time you require. |
 |
There is a frequent bus service to both Birmingham and Coventry from Meriden
(approx. ¾ mile from the park) and, with only limited stops it offers a
faster journey than the alternative service which stops a few hundred yards
from the main gate. |
| Pet Policy |
 |
We welcome well behaved pets! Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all
times whilst on the park and on your pitch. Under no circumstances allow
them near any adjacent pitches next to you. Dog runs are not allowed to
be erected on your pitch, by means of windbreaks or any other form of temporary
